Our Values

APPLE Consulting expresses our values in two ways:

  • In What We DO

  • In What We SAY

We believe it is important to address our values in these two ways as they are both critical to our philosophy in working with neurodiverse individuals.

What We Do:

APPLE is not only our owner's last name! It is an acronym for our values that compass how we provide intervention and clinical support.

Our first core value is centered around the concept of assent.

At APPLE Consulting, we believe in the importance of informed consent, especially when it comes to working with children. However, we also understand that children may not have the same level of understanding as adults when it comes to giving consent. That's why we emphasize the concept of "assent" when working with minors.

Assent refers to a child's agreement to participate in a decision or activity, based on their level of understanding and maturity. It's important to note that assent is not the same as consent, which is given by an adult who has the legal authority to do so. Instead, assent is a way for children to express their own preferences and opinions, and have those taken into account when making decisions that affect them.

Assent is a critical component of our approach to working with neurodiverse children. It involves actively seeking out and respecting the child's perspective and preferences, and involving them in the decision-making process whenever possible. This helps to build trust and rapport with the child, and ensures that they feel valued and respected throughout their journey with us.

P

ositivity

Core Value 2 of APPLE Consulting is "P" for Positivity. We believe in taking a positive approach to intervention, which means focusing on the strengths and abilities of our clients. We understand that every individual has unique qualities and strengths that can be harnessed to overcome challenges.

When working with our clients, we use positive words and actions to encourage and motivate them. We believe that positivity can be contagious and can help create a supportive environment for growth and change.

Our team of professionals is trained to use positive language and actions when working with clients. We avoid negative or judgmental language and instead focus on the strengths and potential of our clients. This approach helps build trust and rapport with our clients, which is essential for effective intervention.

We also believe in celebrating small victories and progress along the way. By acknowledging and celebrating our clients' successes, we help build their confidence and self-esteem. This positivity can help them stay motivated and continue to work towards their goals.

In summary, at APPLE Consulting, we take a positive approach to intervention by focusing on the strengths and abilities of our clients. We use positive language and actions to encourage and motivate them, celebrate their successes, and create a supportive environment for growth and change.

At APPLE Consulting, we strongly believe in the importance of learning when serving neurodiverse children with autism. Our company focuses on evidence-based strategies that have been shown to be effective in helping children with autism reach their full potential. We understand that every child is unique and has different needs, which is why we embed learning in our teaching approach. We learn from our students and adapt our strategies accordingly to ensure that each child receives the best possible care.

In addition to learning from our students, we are actively engaged in learning ourselves. We work closely with FTF (For the Future Consulting; www.ftfbc.com) to gain expertise and credentialing in PFA/SBT, which is the cornerstone of our practice. This allows us to stay up-to-date with the latest research and techniques in the field of autism care. We believe that by continuously learning and growing, we can provide the highest level of care to our clients.

Learning is a core value at APPLE Consulting, and we are committed to providing our staff with ongoing training and professional development opportunities. Our team is made up of highly skilled professionals who are passionate about what they do. E

Core Value 5 of APPLE Consulting is "E" for Empowerment. We believe in empowering our clients to live full lives just as they are. We understand that everyone has their own unique journey, and we strive to provide personalized support to help our clients achieve their goals.

At APPLE Consulting, we believe that self-advocacy is a crucial component of empowerment. We work with our clients to develop their self-advocacy skills, so they can confidently express their needs and desires. We believe that when our clients are empowered to speak up for themselves, they are better able to navigate the world around them.

Our approach to empowerment is centered around each client's individualized journey. We recognize that everyone's experiences and needs are different, and we tailor our support to meet those unique needs. We work collaboratively with our clients to identify their goals and develop a plan to achieve them. Our personalized approach ensures that our clients receive the support they need to succeed.

S

upportive

At APPLE Consulting, we pride ourselves on our supportive nature when it comes to interacting with others. This is especially true when it comes to speaking with clients, families, and outside providers. We understand that everyone has unique needs and concerns, and we make a point to listen carefully to what each person has to say.

In addition to listening attentively, we also make it a priority to respond to others in a timely manner. We know that people are often looking for quick answers and solutions, so we do our best to provide prompt and helpful responses whenever possible.

Another important aspect of our supportive approach is providing statements that help others feel heard and understood. We use phrases like "I hear what you're saying" and "That must be really difficult" to show empathy and let people know that we are on their side.

Collaboration is also a key part of our approach. We believe that by working together with others, we can achieve better outcomes for everyone involved. That's why we use collaborative words and actions to build relationships and foster positive interactions with clients, families, and outside providers.

P

roactive

At APPLE Consulting, we strongly believe in the value of proactivity. Being proactive means taking initiative to identify and address issues before they become problems. This approach allows us to stay ahead of the curve and provide our clients with the best possible service.

One key aspect of being proactive is being an effective learner. We encourage our staff to continually seek out new information and skills that can improve their work. By doing so, we are able to stay up-to-date on the latest industry trends and provide the most innovative solutions to our clients.

Another important aspect of proactivity is recognizing that barriers can become opportunities. We view challenges as a chance to learn and grow, rather than as obstacles to be overcome. This mindset allows us to approach each project with a positive attitude and a willingness to find creative solutions.

At APPLE Consulting, we also believe that "problems" become challenges. By reframing our thinking in this way, we are able to approach each issue with a solution-oriented mindset. This helps us to identify the root cause of the problem and develop effective strategies to address it.

Our staff are always looking for feedback and input from others. We recognize that we can't do it all alone, and that collaboration is key to success. By soliciting feedback from our clients and colleagues, we are able to improve our work and provide even better service.

Addressing issues preventively is another key aspect of proactivity. Rather than waiting for problems to arise, we take a proactive approach by identifying potential issues and addressing them before they become major problems. This helps us to avoid costly mistakes and ensure that our clients are always satisfied with our work.

Finally, we believe in communicating in possibilities. We approach each project with an open mind and a willingness to explore new ideas. By communicating in this way, we are able to identify new opportunities and develop innovative solutions that set us apart from our competitors.

At APPLE Consulting, empathy is a core value that we strive to embody in all of our interactions. We believe that empathy is essential to building strong relationships with our clients and colleagues alike. One key aspect of empathy is thinking about others’ perspectives. We make a conscious effort to put ourselves in others’ shoes and consider their point of view, even if it differs from our own.

Another way we demonstrate empathy is by repeating and amplifying statements. This shows that we are actively listening and engaged in the conversation. It also helps to ensure that everyone is on the same page and has a clear understanding of the topic at hand. Additionally, we use others’ names when appropriate to personalize interactions and show that we are truly listening and interested in what they have to say.

At APPLE Consulting, we also believe in seeking understanding, not judgment. We understand that everyone has their own unique experiences and perspectives, and we strive to approach every interaction with an open mind and a willingness to learn from others. This helps us to build strong relationships based on mutual respect and understanding.

At APPLE Consulting, we believe that a positive attitude is essential when speaking with others. It not only makes the conversation more enjoyable, but it also helps to build strong relationships. Using positive words and tone is a key part of this. By choosing words that are uplifting and encouraging, you can create a more positive atmosphere. This can help to put others at ease and make them more receptive to what you have to say.

Another important aspect of a positive attitude is using positive body language. This means maintaining eye contact, smiling, and using open gestures. These nonverbal cues can help to convey your message in a more positive light. They can also help to build trust and rapport with the person you are speaking with.

Being flexible and adaptable to others’ communication style is also essential. Everyone communicates differently, and by being able to adjust your style to match theirs, you can create a more positive and productive conversation. This means paying attention to their tone, pace, and style of communication, and adjusting your own accordingly.

Restating issues in positive terms is another important skill when it comes to speaking with others. This involves reframing negative statements or issues in a more positive light. By doing so, you can help to shift the focus away from the negative and towards potential solutions or positive outcomes.

Speaking professionally is also key when it comes to maintaining a positive attitude. This means using proper grammar and avoiding slang or other inappropriate language. It also means being respectful and courteous at all times.

Finally, embracing positive assumptions is an important part of maintaining a positive attitude. This means assuming the best of others and looking for the good in every situation. By doing so, you can help to create a more positive and optimistic outlook, which can help to improve your relationships with others.

At APPLE Consulting, we believe that kindness is an essential element of effective communication. We value kindness in how we speak and interact with others, whether it be our co-workers, clients, families or anyone else.

One way we demonstrate kindness is by making genuine compliments. We believe that it's important to acknowledge the good qualities of others and to offer sincere praise when deserved. This can help to build positive relationships and create a more supportive and collaborative work environment.

Another way we show kindness is by using language that is catered to the preferences of the listener. For example, some individuals may prefer to be referred to as "autistic," while others may prefer "person with autism." By being mindful of these preferences, we can show respect and appreciation for the individual's perspective.

At APPLE Consulting, we also believe in being respectful regarding others' views and perspectives. We recognize that everyone has different experiences and opinions, and we encourage open and honest communication that allows for diverse perspectives to be heard and valued.

Practicing appreciation is another important aspect of kindness that we value at APPLE Consulting. We believe that expressing gratitude and recognizing the efforts of others can help to foster a positive work culture and promote teamwork and collaboration.

Finally, we place a high value on respecting cultural diversity. We recognize that our employees and clients come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, and we strive to create an inclusive workplace and clinical atmosphere that values and celebrates these differences.
